benchmarking
Understand what’s changed – and what it means
Research becomes even more valuable when you can see how attitudes, behaviours and performance have changed over time.
We help membership organisations benchmark new research against previous studies, whether delivered by Membership Matters or another provider. This allows you to track changing member needs, perceptions and engagement, measure progress and identify emerging priorities.
Where useful, we can also incorporate competitor and sector analysis to provide wider context and understand how your organisation compares.
Whether you’re reviewing your membership strategy, measuring the impact of change or repeating an established member survey, benchmarking gives you a clearer picture of progress and where to focus next.
We help membership organisations

- Measure shifts in satisfaction, engagement and perceptions
- Compare key membership metrics over time

Featured case study
Resolution
Resolution is a membership organisation representing family justice professionals across England and Wales.
Membership Matters worked with Resolution to build on previous research, providing a clear comparison of how member views, experiences and priorities had changed over time.
By benchmarking new findings against earlier insight, we were able to distinguish long-standing issues from emerging priorities and give Resolution a stronger evidence base for future decision-making.
The project helped Resolution to:
- Track changes in member views and priorities
- Compare current findings with previous research
- Identify emerging needs and areas of progress
- Understand where challenges had persisted over time
- Provide stronger evidence for future strategic decisions
Complete focus on delivering the goals we have set and have helped us to achieve so much more than we thought we could. All this and a warm sense of humour too.
